EDMONTON – Edmonton-based Stantec has acquired North State Resources, Inc. (NSR), an environmental consulting firm based in Redding, Calif.
The 60-person firm resolves technical and regulatory issues concerning construction, infrastructure operation and natural resource management. The firms’ key areas of focus, according to a release from Stantec, are support of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance and environmental permitting in the power, transportation, water and community development sectors.
"The talent and regional reputation held by NSR is invaluable as we continually expand our capabilities to serve clients in California and throughout the Western U.S. Their talented team members will help us continually grow our environmental service capabilities in new and existing company communities," Stantec president and CEO Bob Gomes said in a statement.

NSR, founded in 1986, has additional offices in Sacramento and Chico, Calif. and has worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on projects in California, Nevada and Arizona to ensure NEPA compliance on military and civil projects. NSR has also assisted the Bureau of Land Management on evaluations of the Pacific Connector pipeline project proposal to transport natural gas across Oregon.
