City of Edmonton shortlists three teams for Valley Line RFP process

The City of Edmonton has shortlisted three teams to participate in the Request for Proposals process for the Valley Line light rapid transit line between Edmonton and Mill Woods, Alta.

The three teams are Trans Ed Partners, Moving YEG and River City Transit.

The RFP phase will last 12-15 months. Each team will prepare a design proposal that meets all the criteria the City has established over several years in consultation with the citizens of Edmonton. Final proposals are expected in fall 2015 with the successful team selected by the end of 2015. Major construction is expected to begin in 2016 and continue until completion in 2020.

The total capital cost for the Valley Line LRT is $1.8 billion. The City of Edmonton has committed $800-million, the government of Alberta will help finance up to $600 million, and the Government of Canada is contributing $400 million.
