Infrastructure projects announced for Yukon

WHITEHORSE, YUKON – Ottawa has announced joint funding of more than $26.9 million for 13 projects in the Yukon through the Small Communities Fund.

This funding will make important upgrades along the Klondike, Alaska and Dempster highways as well as help reconstruct Campbell Highway. In addition, the Klondike River and Clear Creek bridges will be rehabilitated.

Once complete, these projects will help improve driver safety and help secure the delivery of food and goods for residents and businesses.

"The Government of Canada recognizes the importance of investing in infrastructure that supports safe, cohesive and vibrant communities," said Larry Bagnell, MP for the Yukon. "Along with our Inuit and territorial partners, we are committed to making sure northern communities obtain the support they need to help grow the economy and address local infrastructure priorities. The projects announced today — such as the Klondike River Bridge rehabilitation and the Alaska Highway improvements— will help create a better quality of life for Yukon residents."
