EDMONTON – The Alberta Construction Association (ACA) has honoured two of the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) Board’s top apprentices with specialty awards.
ACA chair Paul Heyens awarded Devon Froland the ACA Top Carpenter Award for 2016. Froland, from Hughenden, Alta., had previously been in the Registered Apprenticeship Program before entering his apprenticeship where he achieved a scholarship due to his hard work.
Pavel Kozanov, from Calgary, received the Top Electrician Award and the ACA W.G. Alexander Memorial Award for being the Top Overall Construction Apprentice in 2016. Kozanov previously received top honours in 2014 as a scholarship recipient. The awards honour apprentices in each trade with the highest overall marks in their final period of training and who received strong employer recommendations.
