The city of Prince George in British Columbia has awarded a $22 million contract for a new RCMP detachment to Kelowna-based Maple Reinders, who delivered the lowest of seven bids for the project.

The city of Prince George in British Columbia has awarded a $22 million contract for a new RCMP detachment to Kelowna-based Maple Reinders, who delivered the lowest of seven bids for the project.

The 64,000 square foot two storey facility will boast sustainable features such as a solar air heating wall, a solar domestic hot water system, and exterior envelope insulation as well as using natural light extensively.

Maple Reinders previously completed a RCMP detachment in Penticton, British Columbia.

Construction of the building, which will be located on 4th Avenue and Victoria, could start as early as next month.
