Three proponents shortlisted for Abbotsford law courts project

ABBORTSFORD, B.C. – Three teams have been shortlisted by the province of British Columbia for a $150 million project to build new law courts in Abbotsford, B.C.

The teams are CBB Partnerships, EllisDon Infrastructure Justice and Plenary PCL Justice.

CBB Partnerships consists of Brookfield Financial Securities LP, Bird Capital Limited Partnership and Bird Design-Build Construction Inc, CGL Companies, LLC, MMM Group Limited and Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions.

EllisDon Infrastructure Justice’s partners are EllisDon Capital Inc., EllisDon Design Build Inc. and EllisDon Facilities Services Inc., Aspyr and SNC-Lavalin Operations & Maintenance Inc.

Plenary PCL Justice is comprised of Plenary Group (Canada) Ltd., PCL Investment Canada Inc. and PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc., WZMH Architects, Smith+Andersen and Johnson Controls Canada LP.

The law courts will double the capacity of the current courthouse and the 14-room building will include three Supreme Courts, eight provincial court courtrooms and three judicial conference rooms.

It will also house community corrections, the BC Prosecution Service and a Justice Access Centre.

The project will be procured as a design, build, finance, maintain public-private partnership with the procurement process overseen by Partnerships BC. Request for Proposals will proceed through 2017, and design and construction is estimated to begin in mid-2018.

A preferred proponent announcement is expected in March 2018 and the project is scheduled to open and operate in 2021.
