Alberta Premier Rachel Notley has endorsed the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project in a submission to the National Energy Board. "Earlier today, I wrote to the National Energy Board in support of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion project," she stated.
"Our government believes this project is good for Albertans and good for all Canadians." B.C. declined to endorse the project, citing concerns over spill safety measures. Notley encouraged Kinder Morgan to continue working with the federal government and the government of B.C. on these issues.
"We will not get pipelines built by picking fights with other provinces through the media," she said. "And, we will not get pipelines built by refusing to take action against global warming." Vancouver and Burnaby have formally opposed the project.
