SURREY, B.C. – The BC Building Trades raised more than $40,000 for charity with its recent golf tournament at Hazelmere Golf and Tennis club in Surrey.
“It was our most successful fundraising tourney ever,” says Nancy Antolcic, owner of Nancy Antolcic Events, which has been putting on the BC Building Trades’ It’s Fore the Kids tournament for the past 21 years. “The day started out with rain, but that failed to dampen either the spirits or the drive – no pun intended – of all our 160 golfers, volunteers and sponsors.”
The funds will be split between the UBC Centre for Research in Childhood Diabetes and Variety the Children’s Charity
The BC Building Trades represents the unionized construction sector. Sponsors included Ironworkers Local 97 (platinum), Construction Labour Relations Association (gold) and many other unions, associations and corporate donors.
It’s Fore the Kids has raised more than $400,000 for local charities since 1998.
