Social media mosaic: A digital retelling of the 2020 pandemic

A global event like the COVID-19 pandemic is so massive, damaging and far-reaching that traditional news coverage can never fully capture it all. Rather than one story it is millions of small stories. To show how the pandemic impacted the Canadian construction industry, Journal of Commerce and Daily Commercial News staff sifted through thousands of tweets by associations, companies, workers and government officials from 2020. These tweets are snapshots and primary historical documents of life before the pandemic hit, the chaos it caused and how the industry worked to keep jobsites safe.
