VRCA postpones Awards of Excellence due to pandemic

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) has announced it will postpone the VRCA Awards of Excellence in-person gala scheduled for Jan. 19 due to new BC Health orders.

Provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced Dec. 21 that due to rising COVID-19 case counts, which could result in increased hospitalizations, the province is enacting restrictions from Dec. 22 at 11:59 p.m. to Jan. 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. including a ban on organized indoor social events.

“We share in your disappointment and frustration at yet another change in plans due to COVID-19, but we are confident that reduced exposure combined with increasing vaccinations and boosters will get us where we need to be shortly so we can move ahead with another date very soon,” a VRCA release stated.

The release also stated, “all registered attendees, sponsors and guests affected by these changes will be contacted by VRCA in the coming weeks to confirm next steps and provide any clarification needed.”

More information on the BC Public Health orders are available here.
