VICTORA — The British Columbia Construction Association (BCCA) has announced Anthony Minniti has been elected as board chair for the 2022-2023 term effective immediately.
Minniti is based in Victoria and is CGI Constructor’s vice-president of operations for Canada and served on the board of directors of the Vancouver Island Regional Construction Association for 10 years, as well as on the BCCA board since 2014.
He also served on the boards of the BC Construction Foundation, Saanich Foundation, St. Margaret’s School, and as president of the Cordova Bay Community Association.
“Construction is a strong and resilient industry, and there is no limit to what we can do when we work together. Construction is a driving force in the economy of our province and it is also a noble profession of our communities. No organization understands that better than BCCA, and we are proud to serve all ICI contractors, regardless of labour affiliation, size, or location in the province,” Minniti said in a statement.
“We welcome Anthony to the chair’s role and look forward to his contributions as an experienced, long-time board member. Anthony is fearless when it comes to asking tough questions and challenging the status quo. I’m excited to see what we can achieve together,” BCCA president Chris Atchison added.
Minniti continues the work of outgoing BCCA char Mike Fawcett of Brock White and will “advocate on behalf of B.C.’s industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction employers on important topics such as prompt payment, skilled worker shortages, and public sector procurement policies and procedures,” a BCCA release stated.
The association will continue to implement a strategic three-year plan and the role of the chair will continue to be prioritizing collaboration with the four other major B.C. regional construction associations.
