Enbridge, partners to develop renewable natural gas
Enbridge Inc., Walker Industries and Comcor Environmental today announced a partnership to jointly develop renewable natural gas (RNG) projects across Canada. The partnership aims to transform landfill waste into carbon-neutral energy, which will be injected into local natural gas distribution networks across Canada, reducing the overall carbon emission of the gas supply used to heat homes, power businesses and fuel vehicle fleets. The industry estimates over 33 petajoules of landfill derived RNG can be generated in Canada.
City of Edmonton highlights parks construction
The City of Edmonton announced construction of parks and related facilities in 2021. The work includes converting 150 hectares of land around stormwater management facilities into naturalized sites. Service levels will now rise after they were cut in summer 2020 due to the pandemic. Turf maintenance throughout parks will be completed on a 10-14 day schedule, except for premier parks and sports fields which will continue to be maintained on their 7-10 day cycle.
Calgary invests $200 million in downtown vibrancy
Calgary city council has approved its Greater Downtown Plan as well as an initial investment of $200 million to address the vibrancy of the city’s downtown area. The initial investment is earmarked for actions that will address office vacancy, improve downtown vibrancy, and support the development of thriving neighbourhoods, a City of Calgary release stated.
