SNC-Lavalin signs U.K. sustainability contract
SNC-Lavalin today announced it has been appointed by the U.K. government to consult on the government’s net zero agenda. The Net Zero and Life Cycle Replacement Program aims to ensure that over four-million square feet of public sector office space meets enhanced sustainability standards. The six-year contract is with SNCL Engineering Services.
Feds to consult on EI
Federal Minister of Employment Carla Qualtrough has announced that the federal government will launch consultations on longer-term EI improvements in August. The July 19 statement noted the government will be focused on implementing EI reforms announced in Budget 2021 over the next year so further reforms would not be introduced before late 2022. “The immediate focus of the consultations will be on improving access to EI by examining systemic gaps exposed by COVID‑19.”
Etruscus acquires Newfoundland gold project
Vancouver-based Etruscus Resources Corp. today announced it has acquired an option to earn a 100-per-cent interest in the Lewis Gold Property in central Newfoundland. The property consists of two claim blocks within the Peyton Linear gold trend totalling 25.67 square kilometres. Initial plans are property-wide geochemical soil sampling with more targeted and detailed soil sampling, mapping and survey work later this field season.
Saskatchewan putting $13 million into skills training
The Government of Saskatchewan is putting $13 million in new funding towards Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) to deliver education and skills training programs. A total of $11.3 million will go to Saskatchewan Polytechnic to develop and deliver three training initiatives in 2021-22. Approximately $1.68 million will be provided to the SATCC for three initiatives by the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year.
