Leaders’ campaign schedules

On day four of the federal election campaign, the Canadian Press reports that Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has an announcement and media availability scheduled for 9 a.m. PT at the Vancouver Convention Centre; Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole has three events in Quebec City including one at the Quebec City airport; and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has a housing announcement in Burnaby, B.C. in the morning, online discussions with candidates from Winnipeg and Essex in Ontario, and an afternoon meeting with Burnaby business leaders.

Per capital water use declines in Canada

Statistics Canada reported yesterday on national trends in water use, noting that total per capita water use continues to decline. Total per capita use, which includes residential, industrial, commercial and other uses of water provided by public utilities, averaged 411 litres per person per day in 2019, down four per cent from 427 litres per person per day in 2017. The decline in per capita water use was attributable to a larger population and stable drinking water production. Drinking water plants produced 4,866 million cubic metres of potable water in 2019, down slightly from 2017.
