N.W.T announces $194 million in energy investment

YELLOWKNIFE, N.W.T — The Government of the Northwest Territories has announced $194 million in energy investment as part of its 2022-2025 Energy Action Plan.

The funds will go towards implementing 68 actions and initiatives previously outlined in the 2030 Energy Strategy, a news release states.

Among the initiatives are supports for communities to develop green energy projects and the continuation of major energy infrastructure projects.

It is expected the actions proposed will reduce the territory’s greenhouse gas emissions by 51 kilotonnes by 2025.

“This new action plan is realistic and achievable, and is key to achieving the long-term economic, social and environmental well-being of the territory and its residents,” said Diane Archie, minister of infrastructure in the release.
