VICTORIA — The Government of British Columbia is asking for input across the province on how to improve cycling infrastructure through the 2019-2020 BikeBC program.
The program offers funding for new cycling infrastructure and improvements of existing infrastructure. Communities with populations of less than 15,000 are eligible to apply for funding that covers up to 75 per cent of the project’s costs. Those with a population of more than 15,000 are eligible for 50 per cent.
The BikeBC program has announced $26.74 million in funding for 113 cycling projects.
Applications will be received until Feb. 8 and are evaluated on how they improve cyclist safety with separated bike and multi-use paths; cyclist and pedestrian bridges and overpasses; and buffered and marked bike lanes. Shared roadways and shoulder bikeways are also prioritized.
