BURNABY, B.C. — Resurfacing work is scheduled to start May 31 on Highway 1 between the Willingdon Avenue interchange and the Gaglardi Way interchange.

The $7.4-million project includes resurfacing Highway 1 in both directions including the shoulders and on and off ramps of connecting interchanges.

A contract for the work has been awarded to All Roads Construction Ltd., and the company will work closely with both WorkSafeBC and the provincial ministry of transportation and infrastructure to ensure COVID-19 protocols including social distancing are followed.

To minimize driving delays work will be done at night with a minimum of two lanes open to traffic through the work zone. While work is underway, the speed limit will be reduced to 70 km/h through the project site.

During non-working hours the highway will function at normal operating speeds including on ramps and interchanges.

Paving work is expected to end in the summer, dependent on weather conditions.
