StatsCan reports on lumber, asphalt production

Statistics Canada reported Friday that national lumber production by sawmills decreased 4.7 per cent from April to 4.929 million cubic metres in May. Production was 12.4 per cent higher than in May 2020. The agency also reported that shipments of asphalt shingles totalled 3.7 million metric bundles in June, up nine per cent from the previous month and up 0.2 per cent from June 2020.

Saskatchewan parks see highway improvements

The government of Saskatchewan is putting $12.7 million into highway improvements for both Kelvington and Greenwater Lake Provincial Park Areas. Work will soon be complete on a significant paving and road repair including a portion of Highway 38 and roads inside Greenwater Lake Provincial Park at a cost of $10.9 million and Another 3.6 km of paving on Highway 38 from Chelan to the south  will be complete in 2022 at a cost of $1.8 million.

DIF signs CIB agreement for Manitoba fiber

DIF Capital Partners has formalized an agreement through portfolio company Valley Fiber Ltd. with he Canada Infrastructure Bank to grow DIF’s investment in expanding Valley Fiber’s reach by targeting to connect 48,500 households with dedicated fiber-to-the-home in Manitoban rural municipalities.
