$23 million school expansion completed in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK, B.C. — A 450 seat addition to the GW Graham Secondary School in Chilliwack is officially complete.

The expansion was funded by $23.9 million from the Government of B.C.

“This is the fourth new or expanded school that we have completed in Chilliwack since 2017,” said Minister of Education and Child Care Jennifer Whiteside in a press release.

The new expansion eliminates the school’s reliance on portables, the release adds.

The expansion is part of a $100 million investment from the province in Chilliwack’s school system.

Since 2017 the provincial government has announced $3 billion for new and improved schools along with land purchases for future schools throughout the province. This includes adding almost 20,000 new student spaces and 32,000 seismically safer seats at B.C. schools, the release reads.
