WINNIPEG — The Government of Manitoba has released an RFP for the construction of a 6,300-square-foot multi-purpose room and performing arts space at the Swan Valley Regional Secondary School in Swan River, Man.
“Performing arts education contributes to learning engagement and a wide range of positive academic, social and emotional effects,” said Wayne Ewasko, education and early childhood learning minister, in a news release.
The RFP is open until Jan. 26 on www.merx.com.
The new space will need supportive elements for Indigenous cultural performances.
The project is seen as a response to recommendation 15 from the Manitoba Commission on Kindergarten to 12 Education that schools need to provide access to the arts and other value-added community activities, according to the release.
