VIDEO: Canada’s impending labour crunch

Canada’s construction industry is currently seeing solid growth, with BuildForce Canada forecasting expansion across the country in 2022 and beyond.

But the future becomes murky further out, as an entire generation of construction workers at every level heads for retirement. The industry is looking to ‘non-traditional’ sources such as women, minorities and Indigenous workers and the government of Canada continues to try to encourage immigrants to take up the skilled trades or bring experience they already have to their new home.

The construction industry is also looking to technology, modularization and greater efficiency to address the labour challenge.
