SASKATOON, SASK. — A crane company in Regina is facing an $80,000 fine for violating safety regulations.
The Saskatoon Provincial Court imposed the fine last month on Prairie Crane after the company pleaded guilty to contravening Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
The court found Prairie Crane failed to properly train workers.
Charges stemmed from a 2016 incident in Saskatoon.
A worker suffered serious injuries to his arm and pelvis when the scissor lift he was operating was struck by an overhead crane, knocking the lift to the ground.
The company was fined $57,143 plus a surcharge of $22,857.
One additional charge was withdrawn.
Prairie Crane specializes in crane and hoisting services for mining, industrial and commercial businesses operating throughout Western Canada.
