REVELSTOKE, B.C. — An affordable housing project has been announced for Revelstoke, B.C. The facility’s design includes 24 affordable rental homes.
“We know people working in the resort and hospitality industries in Revelstoke have had a hard time finding affordable housing,” said David Eby, housing minister, in a statement. “By delivering 24 new quality rental homes, more people who work in the community will have a home they can afford.”
The project is targeted toward individuals and couples with moderate and low incomes who are working in the resort and hospitality industries in the city. The facility will be operated by the Revelstoke Community Housing Society.
The project site is situated near elementary and secondary schools, a grocery store and the Revelstoke central business district.
Under the Columbia Basin Investment in Affordable Housing agreement between the province and Columbia Basin Trust, a grant of about $4.8 million is being provided for the project. The City of Revelstoke is leasing the land to the society at a nominal rate.
Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2022.
