MARKHAM, ONT.—A team of civil engineers from the University of British Columbia has won first place in the 2021 Canadian National Steel Bridge Competition.
The competition, a partnership between the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers and the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), was held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to recognize the talent and perseverance of young students in civil engineering who have invested a lot of energy in the field of the study of steel bridges, indicates a CISC release.
The University of British Columbia team ranked first in design, analysis evaluation, construction sequencing evaluation, questions and answers and overall rank. Hohai University in China ranked first in video evaluation.
