PORT ALBERNI, B.C. — Construction has begun on 22 new safe second-stage homes for women and children in the City of Port Alberni.
The homes will be operated by Sage Haven and include one, two and three-bedroom homes for people fleeing violence, states a news release.
The homes will be available for women, children and gender-diverse people including transgender women, Two-Spirit and non-binary people in Port Alberni and surrounding areas.
The new homes will be constructed on land owned by Port Alberni. The land is subject to a long-term lease with B.C. to develop the project.
