VANCOUVER — Some of the best consulting engineers in Canada have been honoured by the Government of British Columbia for their transportation-related work in the past year.
Award winners were announced during the B.C. Transportation Conference for the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies in Vancouver, states a news release.
The award for design and contract preparation for structures was a tie.
- Stantec Consulting Ltd. won for its response to the Highway 8 flood when more than seven kilometres of highway between Merritt and Spences Bridge were washed out in November 2021.
- Hatch Ltd., Charter Project Delivery Inc. and T.Y Lin International Canada Ltd. shared the same award for their repairs to the Taylor Bridge.
- Urban Systems Ltd. won the design and contract preparation award for roads for widening a stretch of Highway 97 in a tight timeline and under budget.
- R.F. Binnie & Associates won the alternative transportation award for its launch of RapidBus routes R1 through R5 in the Greater Vancouver area.
- Associated Engineering (B.C.) Ltd. won the award for construction management and supervision services for resurfacing nearly 11 kilometres of Highway 14 between Otter Point and Woodhaven roads in the Sooke-Port Renfrew area.
- PBX Engineering Ltd. won the specialized engineering services award for rehabilitating the reversible lane-control system on the heavily trafficked Lions Gate Bridge.
