Saskatoon Public Library announces design contract  

The Saskatoon Public Library has announced the design contract for their new Central Library project. Formline Architecture, Chevalier Morales Architectes and Architecture49 will design the project for $4.8 million. The design contract includes the design team and 11 other sub-consultants consisting of mechanical, civil, electrical and structural engineering, landscape architecture and wayfinding, sustainability, acoustics, building envelope, security and audio-visual and cost consultants. Construction of the new library, valued at $73.3 million, will be tendered once design work is complete.  

Procore finds 70 per cent of construction firms productive despite pandemic 

Procore Canada’s inaugural How We Build Canada survey has found more than 70 per cent of Canadian construction companies responding had as many or more projects during the first six months of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to before. The survey also found more than 77 per cent of Canadian builders plan to maintain some or all COVID-19 safety measures post-pandemic and only 10 per cent of respondents anticipate a return to pre-pandemic safety measures. 

City of Victoria announces new park 

A new park is planned for Victoria, B.C.’s South Jubilee neighbourhood after the City of Victoria purchased a 12,700 square foot parcel of land. The new park will be named Agamemnon and Eleni Kasapi Park in recognition of a family property preserved on the space. It will be preserved as a green space for public use. The city purchased the property for $1 million with funding from its Parks Acquisition Fund and the issuance of a charitable donation receipt in the amount of $210,000 for the remainder of the purchase price. 

PropTech Summit set for today 

PCL Construction and Eddy Solution have launched the IoT PropTech Summit this morning. It’s a one–day virtual free–of–charge event that focuses on connected and Internet of Things technologies. Information is available at the Proptech site.
