Journal Of Commerce Image Journal Of Commerce

This is the 50th episode of The Construction Record Podcast, and Daily Commercial News editor Vince Versace and daily editor Lindsey Cole mark the occasion with a look back at our accomplishments (including downloads from every province in Canada) and a look forward at what’s yet to come.

We also focus on the continuing industry efforts spearheaded by women for more female representation in the trades. Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi spoke to Mechanical Contractors Association of Canada executive director Tania Johnston about the organization’s newly formed Women in Mechanical Construction group.

Journal of Commerce digital media editor Warren Frey also spoke to the Boston-based Policy Group on Tradeswomen’s Issues (PGTI)’s research director Susan Moir and New England Regional Council of Carpenters business representative and organizer Elizabeth Skidmore at an event put on by the Industry Training Authority – BC and the BC Centre for Women in Trades Training (BCCWITT) about efforts in their city and state to recruit and retain more women into the trades.

Forget the ‘why’ and focus on the ‘how’ to retain women in the trades
