RFP – Earl Mah Aquatic Centre – Hydro Pool Replacement Project

Tender Description

Renovation of a mixed-use development in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.

The City of Prince Rupert (“City”) is seeking proposals from qualified proponents (“Proponents”) in response to this request for proposals (“RFP”) for the provision of Services (as defined herein) to be carried out within the required schedule set out herein for renovation works to be performed at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre swimming pool (the “Project”). The Earl Mah Aquatic Centre is owned and operated by the City of Prince Rupert and is located at 1000 McBride Street. The pool, is attached to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre and was constructed in 1980. The City of Prince Rupert recommends that Proponents review the Design Development Report for Hot Tub Repair dated February 23, 2017, prepared for the City of Prince Rupert by Interior Mechanical Consultants on which the repair strategy and RFP documents are based.

The services will comprise General Contracting and construction management for the Project including, without limiting:
(i) Complete demolition of the existing hot tub structure and adjacent pool deck surfaces including all required hoarding and protection of the adjacent facility.
(ii) Reconstruction of the pool structure as a completely new, formed concrete structure sitting on the existing pile caps and pile foundation.
(iii) Renewal of all mechanical and electrical requirements for the hydro pool operation.
(iv) Relining of the pool and adjacent decks with membrane system and ceramic tile or as an alternate a Stainless Steel liner and associated Stainless components. (collectively, the “Services”) all to be carried out with consideration being given to a focus on schedule and value to the City and Project budget.
