Daily Commercial News Image Daily Commercial News

On this episode of the Five Pods of Xmas, Daily Commercial News staff writer Don Wall reflects on important stories from 2023 including changes in Ontario to the inquest process.

Don recently wrote a story about Ontario changing its approach to inquests in order to clear a backlog of cases leading to substantial delays. Additionally stakeholders have often changed their safety approaches by the time inquest findings are released, making the information less relevant.

Don also highlighted the two-year anniversary of Skilled Trades Ontario and pointed out 2024 and said he has great interest in seeing what the end result has been of this shift on the part of the Ontario government in its approach to training and apprenticeship.

Our previous interview with Journal of Commerce staff writer Srah Rowland is available here. Stay tuned for DCN staff writer Angela Gismondi’s interview tomorrow, and thanks for listening!
