The Construction Record Podcast – Episode 26

In this episode of The Construction Record Podcast, national editor Vince Versace and daily editor Lindsey Cole look into some of the current stories in our newsroom including ongoing coverage of Aecon’s possible sale to CCCI, a Chinese company which is a subsidiary of a state-owned enterprise, and also the Canadian Construction Association’s reaction to the situation. Vince and Lindsey also discuss Angela Gismondi’s recent story about the Ontario College of Trades and journeyperson to apprentice ratios.

We also have an interview conducted by staff writer Don Wall with architect Douglas Cardinal, who is best known for the design of the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec, but who is currently bringing an exhibit to the Venice Architecture Biennale called “Unceded: Voices from the Land.”

Digital media editor Warren Frey also spoke with Paralympian and entrepreneur Jeff Adams, who gave one of the keynote addresses at the Canadian Construction Association’s 100th annual conference in Banff, Alta. Adams spoke to the challenges of Olympic competition and how striving for excellence can take form in other fields such as the construction industry.
