TCR Express: April 6, 2022

This week on TCR Express, digital media editor Warren Frey and Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson look at some of the stories coming up in the paper, including Russell’s interview with officials at Saint-Gobain, who are working on a major project to capture heat and cut down emissions at one of their manufacturing plants as a step towards net-zero emissions by 2050.

Russell also talked about a disagreement between the Union of BC Municipalities and the Canadian Homebuilders Association of BC about affordable housing, one of the biggest issues in the Lower Mainland and in Canada.

Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi has a story about speaking with Guy Chartrand, vice president of business operations at Priestly Demolition, about the company’s recent majority acquisition of Jones Group Ltd, and staff writer Don Wall has a story about the Montreal real estate boom, with Montrealers serving on a recent Urban Land Institute panel offering multiple reasons for their city’s commercial real estate renaissance but highlighting the REM light rail project.

Make sure to tune into upcoming episodes of both TCR Express and The Construction Record as well as out sites and social media as deputy Prime Minister and finance minister Chrystia Freeland unveils the federal budget on April 7.
