This week on the Construction Record podcast we’ve got part one of an interview with Trevor Botkin, who spoke to Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson about his experience with substance use while working in the construction industry.
In this first section Trevor talks about his struggles with school and self-esteem as a child and teenager, how he found acceptance in the construction industry, which he termed “an industry that collects people who don’t belong elsewhere.” But the party atmosphere and tough-guy mentality amongst his peers at the time meant his drug use weren’t shunned but celebrated.
This interview is in recognition of both Mental Health Week and our ongoing Cracks in the Foundation series. We’ve included a link to our recap of our initial series of articles below, and make sure to tune in for part two of our interview with Trevor Botkin next week.
You can listen to The Construction Record and TCR Express on the Daily Commercial News and Journal of Commerce websites as well as on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music’s podcast section and you can hear last week’s episode featuring Nate Bergen of Kinsol Timber Systems here. Thanks for listening and we’ll see you next week.
