TCR Express: July 28, 2021

On this episode of TCR Express, Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson talks about some of the stories he’s been working on, including a proposed high speed rail line between Edmonton and Calgary which if approved would be built by Aecom and EllisDon. Russell is also writing a story about how the wildfires in British Columbia and spiking lumber prices are connected.

Warren also has a story about a recent report from Canada’s Oil and Natural Gas Producers (CAPP) about reduction of emissions intensity in oil and gas operations. Warren spoke to CAPP vice president of oil sands and fiscal and economic policy Ben Brunnen and you can both read a story about the report and tune in to an interview with Brunnen on this Friday’s edition of the Construction Record podcast.

Daily Commercial News staff writer Angela Gismondi is working on a two-part series two part series about a drywall and acoustics training program that is being offered in Thunder Bay for citizens from nine first Nations communities in the area. The Ontario Ministry of Labour training and skills development is holding a public consultation on improving health and safety requirements for tower cranes and Angela will talk to Gowling WLG about how construction firms can submit feedback.
