The Construction Record Podcast – Episode 41: Elections, CanaData and Bridging the Gap

Journal Of Commerce Image Journal Of Commerce

On this episode of the Construction Record podcast, national editor Vince Versace and Journal of Commerce digital media editor Warren Frey look at ConstructConnect’s recent CanaData conference, held recently in Toronto with a shift in focus from pure economics to a mix of technology and economic forecasting.

Vince and Warren also address the recent municipal elections in Toronto and Vancouver, and how the results of each election will affect the local construction industry. There’s also a look at marijuana legalization coverage and Warren gives a preview of the Bridging the Gap safety conference he’ll attend in Vancouver, which amongst other topics will cover marijuana and other impairment issues in the workplace. Vince and Warren also take a look at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s recent Awards of Excellence gala, where many British Columbia projects were recognized.

We also have a feature interview with James Benham, the keynote speaker at this week’s CanaData and the founder and CEO of JBKnowledge Inc, a technology consultancy located in College Station, Texas. Benham spoke to us about the changing role of technology and construction, as well as his role as a city councilor and how that informed his efforts to make College Station into a ‘smart city.’
