TORONTO — Avison Young’s principal and executive vice-president of real estate management services Neil Lacheur has been appointed chair of the board of directors of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Canada.

With 20 years of direct real estate management experience, Lacheur oversees Avison Young’s real estate management services portfolio. Collectively, the team manages more than 22 million square feet of retail and industrial space across Canada, states a release. He served as treasurer and vice-chair of BOMA Canada prior to his appointment as chair.

BOMA Canada is a federation composed of over 3,100 members in the commercial real estate industry, representing more than 2.1 billion square feet of office space.

Prior to joining Avison Young, Lacheur was the senior vice-president of customer experience at QuadReal Property Group, the vice-president of property management at Bentall Kennedy, and the property director for Manulife Real Estate.

“I am honoured to be named chair of BOMA Canada and am excited to work with the team, directors, and 11 BOMA chapters across the country to serve our member stakeholders,” said Lacheur in a statement. “Commercial real estate is a dynamic business with so many opportunities. BOMA Canada supports programs that help facilitate excellence in real estate management, focusing on areas such as ESG, emergency preparedness, and digital transformation.
