Ontario breaks ground on Sarnia long-term care home

SARNIA, ONT. — Construction is underway on Trillium Villa Nursing Home, a new 160-bed long-term care home in Sarnia.

The new building will replace an existing 152-bed long-term care home. It will bring eight new and 152 upgraded and redeveloped beds to the community and is expected to welcome its first residents in mid-2026, states a release.

The new building will be fully air conditioned and designed to modern standards. It will feature five “resident home areas,” for up to 32 residents, with dining and activity areas and lounges.

These areas will surround a central courtyard and contain their own dining rooms, activity spaces, lounge areas, outdoor balcony/patio, and nursing and utility spaces. The home will also feature a chapel, café, tuck shop, beauty salon, outdoor courtyard, gardens, exam rooms and balconies.

The redeveloped home will be operated by S & R Nursing Homes Limited.

As of October, 115 projects representing a total of 18,823 new and redeveloped beds are completed, under construction or have Ontario government approval to construct.
