TORONTO — This project is sure to make a splash.
Ground was broken recently on Toronto’s Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre, a new multi-use facility that will feature a wide range of amenities, a variety of programming spaces and multi-purpose rooms.
Located east of the Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue intersection, key highlights include:
- A 25-metre swimming pool for both recreational swimming and swim training;
- a warm-water leisure pool for therapeutic use and family-friendly programming;
- a fitness centre with equipment for cardio, strength training and fitness classes;
- community meeting rooms and multipurpose spaces; and
- an accessible design for all community members.
Expected to open in 2027, the centre was also developed with sustainability in mind and will adhere to the city’s net-zero emissions facilities with energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible elements.
The centre will share facilities with the new Davisville Junior Public School through a partnership with the Toronto District School Board, explains a release.
The school will have access to the facility’s swimming pools and the city will have access to the school’s double gymnasium and underground parking garage outside of school hours.
