ConstructConnect reported the top ten nonresidential construction starts by dollar volume in the September Construction Economy Snapshot.
Last week, ConstructConnect announced that the volume of Total Nonresidential construction starts—the sum of Nonresidential Building and Heavy Engineering—was $49.7 billion, a decrease of $7.8 billion or 13.5% compared to a revised July reading of $57.5 billion through August 2024.
Chief Economist Michael Guckes said, “Through August, total year-to-date construction spending is down 2.4%. However, this small contraction hides a wide dispersion of results across verticals and geographies.”
Guckes underscored the significance of wise project selection for construction professionals like general contractors, trades, building product manufacturers, and estimators when he added, “Knowing the landscape of the construction industry will have significant benefits to firms willing and able to navigate today’s bumpy terrain.”
