B.C., Plenary PCL Justice reach financial close on Abbotsford law courts

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The Province of British Columbia and Plenary PCL Justice recently reached financial close on the $150-million Abbotsford law courts project.

Plenary PCL Justice will deliver a new 14-room law court facility containing both provincial and Supreme courts along with space for justice partners. The Plenary team met the required criteria of price, quality of design, adaptability to the needs of those using the facility, and meeting energy efficiency targets, explains a release.

“Plenary is thrilled to have reached financial close on the Abbotsford Law Courts project, the province’s first new courthouse in 20 years. We look forward to working closely with the Ministry of Citizens’ Services and the Ministry of Attorney General to deliver a LEED Gold justice facility in one of B.C.’s fastest growing regions,” Plenary PCL Justice president and CEO Brian Budden said in a statement.

Plenary PCL Justice is made up of Plenary Group (Canada) Ltd. as project co-lead and equity provider; PCL Investment Canada Inc. as equity provider; PCL Constructors Westcoast Inc. acting as design-builder; WZMH Architects doing architecture; Smith + Andersen as IMIT consultant; and Johnson Controls Canada LP as service provider.

Construction will begin in summer 2018 and project completion is expected for 2020.
