Pickard Chilton wins architecture award for Calgary ATCO Park project
JASON DZIVER - New Haven, Conn. Based architecture firm Pickard Chilton has won an AIA Connecticut Business Architecture Award of Merit for its design work on ATCO Park in Calgary, Alta.

NEW HAVEN, CONN. – New Haven, Conn based Pickard Chilton has been awarded an AIA Connecticut Business Architecture Award of Merit for its design work on ATCO Park in Calgary, Alta.

ATCO Park is the new 43,000 square foot headquarters for the Alberta-based energy and logistics firm and is composed of two four-storey office buildings with a leaf-shaped quad interconnected by a multi-purpose commons area.

A jury comprised of Maier Design Group’s David Arai, Lumenance Consulting’s Nancy Alexander and De Clercq Office Group’s Dan De Clerq said the project was “a harmonious design that connects well to its surroundings. The fusion of company and public spaces is refreshing. The overall forms of the building were really successful, and it captured the imagery of the mountains. The materials, the wood, and the space are perfect for what the architect wanted to accomplish. Beautiful and very well-conceived.”

ATCO Park also won a Prairie Wood Design award in the Top Project category, a Merit Architecture Award from AIA Connecticut; and a Green Good Design Award and an American Architecture Award from the European Centre for Architecture and the Chicago Athenaeum.
