CALGARY — The $277-million contract for the south segment of the West Calgary Ring Road (WCRR) has been awarded by Alberta Transportation to Calgary Safelink Partners consortium.
The team includes Graham, VINCI and Carmacks.
The contract covers the design and construction of the Highway 8 to Old Banff Coach Road segment of the project to complete the ring road.
With the WCRR project being completed in three parts, Calgary Safelink Partners will deliver the south segment including new road infrastructure of approximately five kilometres, four interchanges, seven bridges and a pedestrian underpass. The work includes earthworks, drainage works, surfacing construction, bridge structures and the installation of street lighting.
“The key to these complex roadway projects is pulling professional people together who enjoy delivering infrastructure projects as one unified team,” said Tom Cole, Graham’s general manager of infrastructure, in a statement. “With all the challenges faced from project kick off, through design, construction, and right up to the final product handover, people work with people to achieve great things. Our team is excited to be part of connecting the final portion of the Calgary Ring Road.”
The segment will be the final section of the Calgary Ring Road to be completed. The ring road will provide more than 100 kilometres of continuous traffic around the city by 2024.
