First Amazon delivery station announced for Manitoba

WINNIPEG — The Government of Manitoba has announced Amazon Logistics will build a new delivery station near Winnipeg.

The 113,000-square-foot site will be built in Inkster Industrial Park northeast of Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. The site is set to launch in 2021.

“The Manitoba government has worked hard to create a good business environment where companies want to grow and create jobs,” said Manitoba Economic Development and Training Minister Ralph Eichler in a statement. “Manitoba is a great place to do business and we thank Amazon for its investment and for showing confidence in our economy.”

“We are excited to continue our growth in Canada with our first Manitoba delivery station in Winnipeg. This new delivery station will allow us to provide fast and efficient delivery for customers and provide hundreds of job opportunities for the talented local workforce,” said Amazon Canada last mile logistics operations regional director Tushar Kumar.

The station will receive and sort parcels from other distribution centres and co-ordinate deliveries to homes and businesses in Winnipeg through local third-party service providers.
