Winnipeg police and fire services rescue crane climber

The Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a call at 6:21 p.m. on July 22 for reports that an individual had climbed high up on a construction crane near Waterfront Drive and James Avenue. It is estimated the individual was nearly 35 metres from the ground. Task force members were able to approach the individual and secure them with harnesses and ropes that allowed for them to be safely lowered to the ground at approximately 7:45 p.m.

WorkSafeBC stresses sun safety

WorkSafeBC is reminding workers and employers to practice sun safety while working outdoors. Recommendations include protecting skin through clothing choices, staying in shade when possible and using sunscreen and the use of safety glasses, sunglasses or prescription eyeglasses along with a wide-brimmed hat to protect eyes from the sun. WorkSafeBC also has separate resource guides for workers and employers.
