Canadian Tire invests in inland B.C. port company
Canadian Tire Corporation yesterday signed an investment agreement with Ashcroft Terminal Limited of British Columbia to acquire a 25-per-cent equity interest in the company. Ashcroft is an inland port facility located 300 kilometres east of Vancouver. It is the only major privately owned industrial property in Canada where both Class 1 railroad lines, Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway, run through.
Federal government invests in South Vancouver seniors centre
The government of Canada is investing in a new seniors centre in South Vancouver. The new seniors centre will be approximately 10,000 square feet to maximize programming and will be adjacent to the existing Sunset Community Centre. The federal government has approved in principle an investment of over $5.2 million in this project through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program’s Community, Culture, and Recreation Infrastructure Stream.
Construction begins on iconic Edmonton fire station
Construction has started on the City of Edmonton Windermere Fire Station project. The building was designed by S2 Architecture in partnership with gh3* architects and is built to generate maximum solar energy through strategically placed photovoltaic panels on the sloped roof. PCL Construction is building the structure.
