Buildex Vancouver 2022 took place from March 23 to March 24th and was the first in-person version of the trade show and professional development conference since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.
One of the showcase installations of the conference was Re-Grow, a collaborative wood sculpture created through collaboration between MGA | Michael Green Architecture, Unbuilders, and Workbench Studio which uses deconstructed materials from residential buildings that would otherwise be discarded to create and abstract tree sculpture that towers over the conference trade floor.
The Journal of Commerce interviewed Unbuilders founder Adam Corneil and MGA Architecture principal and partner Natalie Telewaiak about the challenges of both the design process and construction of the Re-Grow structure. They also explained how Re-Grow encourages awareness of sustainability, recycling and reuse, and the emergence of the circular economy.
