WINNIPEG — The minimum wage in Manitoba continues its upward climb.

The provincial government recently introduced legislation to formalize a plan for a $15 minimum wage by October 2023, states a news release.

On Oct. 1, 2022, the minimum wage was raised from $11.95 to $13.50. The wage will rise again on April 1, 2023 to $14.15 before climbing to $15 in October.

“This phased-in approach to raising the minimum wage would help relieve some of the economic pressures on Manitoba workers while lessening the impact on small businesses’ bottom lines as much as possible,” said Consumer Protection and Government Services Minister Reg Helwer in the release.
