CHRIS DIKEAKOS ARCHITECTS INC./CITY OF SURREY — A 67-storey mixed-use tower in downtown Surrey could become the tallest in the city’s history after receiving unanimous third-reading approval from Surrey councillors.

SURREY, B.C. — What could be the tallest building in the City of Surrey’s history is one step closer to reality after receiving third-reading approval from city council.

The 67-storey tower would be located on King George Boulevard and feature a seven-storey commercial and office podium, an eight-storey residential podium and a residential tower consisting of 746 residential units.

The tower is being developed by Aimforce Surrey Centre 1 Ltd.

The proposed building received unanimous approval during its third-reading during a Surrey public hearing on Jan. 16.

“I’m very excited about this,” said councillor Mandeep Nagra during the hearing, “this is probably going to be the tallest building (in Surrey).

“Construction plays a huge role in our local economy.”

A date for final project approval has not yet been set.

The tower feature’s a mix of commercial, office and residential space with a seven-storey commercial and office podium and more than 700 residential units.
