TORONTO
The Ontario Masonry Contractors Association (OMCA) has joined the Council of Ontario Construction Associations (COCA).
The addition of OMCA to COCA now gives the provincial construction association 31 member construction associations. OMCA’s membership application was approved at COCA’s annual general meeting on Feb. 24.
“Our success over the past several years as the strong and united voice advocating on behalf of contractors in the ICI and heavy civil sector won the OMCA over,” COCA chair Dan Lancia said in a statement. “OMCA is a strong organization and we’re proud to have them on board.”
OMCA was equally positive about joining COCA.
“The OMCA is always interested in aligning itself with other successful organizations whose interests and objectives are similar to our own,” stated John Blair, OMCA executive director. “We observed COCA’s success in winning amendments to the Construction Lien Act, its tenacity on the WSIB file and its strong interest in pursuing prompt payment legislation for Ontario contractors and believe it’s a great fit. We look forward to participating actively with COCA on these fronts.”
