SASKATOON, SASK. — The English River First Nation has closed a $27.3 million financing deal with the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) for a new wastewater treatment facility.
The facility will be built on the Grasswoods Urban Reserve near Saskatoon, Sask. and is scheduled for completion in 2024, states a news release.
The facility is expected to enable growth in the reserve and wastewater treatment for the neighbouring Rural Municipality of Corman Park.
Des Nedhe Group, the economic development arm of English River, is currently developing the 135-acre reserve to allow for commercial leasing in the future.
“This unique partnership with English River Dirst Nation, Des Nedhe Group, the Rural Municipality of Corman Park and Saskatchewan Water Corporation, enabled by CIB financing, signals an important step towards economic reconciliation,” said English River’s vice-chief Jenny Campbell in the release.
“We look forward to ensuring we can advance future economic development for years to come.”
